Tutorial for new monthly challenge!

Art Journal journal52 week25 Inspired by nature (9)

Today, you may enjoy my struggle playing with this art journal page.
It didn’t turn out as I imagined it..   Maybe you can give me some good advice?

It is my tutorial for the new monthly Katzelkraft challenge-

 A COLORed WINTER…

*****

Let these photographs speak for themselves, I’ll add a few details.

Art Journal journal52 week25 Inspired by nature (1)Adhere some pre-colored paper to the background.

Art Journal journal52 week25 Inspired by nature (2)Add gesso to tone-down the edges.

Art Journal journal52 week25 Inspired by nature (3)Add background stamping

Art Journal journal52 week25 Inspired by nature (4)Add more stamping…. and this is where things started to be grrrrr…
the stamping was not to my satisfaction; the pre-colored paper has a structure to it.
Normally I would fussy cut the stamped image, but that is just not possible for the trees and branches. …

Art Journal journal52 week25 Inspired by nature (5) ….so…. cover it with some white acrylic paint..

Art Journal journal52 week25 Inspired by nature (6) ..and draw the branches and trees with a black acrylic marker.
Add highlights with a white one. (I use ones from Molotow).
Also add more color with the direct-to-paper technique with distress inks.
Add a ‘fence’, this is some cheap plastic ‘wire’ I bought a while ago.
Sponge a sun with a mask.

Art Journal journal52 week25 Inspired by nature (7)I added fussycut cats for on the fence, and also stamped some birds.
At this stage I thought – this is going into the waste bin….
…too much black, too much detail… grrrr…

so ….

I decided I was to cut off part of it……|
and I added some fussy cut branches…
and now I am not really satisfied with it, it will have to do..
Any tips for me?
Maybe I could’ve added some snow falling down…
